The Daintree Rainforest is located in the north east coast of Queensland, Australia. It has a greatest diversity of plants and animals in Australia and grows down to the edge of the sea. There are many activities you can do around the rainforest. It is near many large, major cities that provide an extra sense of adventure. A haven for those wishing to pursue an alternative lifestyle, the freedom, untouched beauty and relaxing style of this region attracts nature lovers and backpackers seeking the perfect holiday escape.
The Daintree Rainforest has been around for millions of years now. It survived through the harshness of mother nature such as volcano eruptions, climate changes, rise and fall of sea levels, etc... It was originally left alone because the thick, lush trees blocked explorers from going inside to search for gold. But as years passed, more efficient tools were created allowing the explorers to go into the rain forest. Now the forest is under government protection to preserve the originality of the rain forest. Throughout the years of exploration, researchers have found many rare plant and animal species that are only home to the Daintree Rainforest.
The rainforest was a victim of the timber industry. Logs after logs were cut down and a rough 4WD track was built through the forest. But in 1987, the Australian Federal Government nominated the Daintree Rainforest as a World Heritage and is being protected from anymore lumbering and road construction.
